Stroke group visit refurbished gardens

1 Oct 2007
A NEWLY opened walled garden, created to its original 1740s specification, was enjoyed by members of Swindon Stroke Support Group during a recent trip to Lydiard House in Swindon.

For the first time in centuries, visitors can enjoy Lydiard Park's ornamental 18th century walled garden, which opened in May this year. This ornamental fruit and flower garden has been carefully restored with beds of elegantly displayed flowers, topiary and bedding plants, restored sundial, well, wide pathways and plenty of seats to enjoy the tranquil garden.

The outing was organised by members of Chiseldon and Wroughton branch, which has had associations with the Swindon Stroke Support Group for many years, originally running a series of canal boat trips.

Graham Swatton, of the Toc H branch, said: “Everyone had a really enjoyable afternoon. In fact they couldn';t stop talking about it all the way home.”
